Canadian Visa applications are being accepted for those wanting to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker.  If you wish to apply for a canadian visa, this post will give you an overview of the program and its requirements.

The annual quota for applications under the skilled worker program has been set at 10,000 applications this year.   Further the quota is set at 500 applications for each occupation on the list.    Which means once 500 dentists apply for Canadian visa, no more applications will be accepted from dentists.

In the last year, the annual quota was for 20,000 applications, which has been reduced to 10,000 for the current year – from July 2011 to June 2012.

In 2 Occupations more than 500 applications have been received.  For those who want to apply for a Canadian visa, in these professions,  the applicants will have to wait till next year.

For those wanting to apply for Canadian visa, as a student or a Business immigrant, the above restrictions do not apply.  Further if you have a job offer from a Candian employer, you are not restricted by this quota.
