Ministers Convene to Prop Up Canadian Tourism Growth
The 2023 Canadian Council of Tourism Ministers (CCTM) meeting was wrapped up today by the federal, provincial, and territory ministers responsible for tourism. The meeting was co-chaired by the honourable Steve Crocker, the Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts, and Recreation, and the honorable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Minister of Tourism and Minister in charge of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec. The co-chairs recognised the unique histories and traditions of the Beothuk, Mi’kmaq, Innu, and Inuit people of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador as well as the traditional territory of several Indigenous communities.
Ministers discussed how government can best promote tourism’s continued success while respecting the authority of each branch of government. Tourism is one of Canada’s largest sectors and an economic driver in communities across the nation.
