Immigration in 2023 on track to bust record-high targets for this year, next year and even 2025
According to the most recent figures from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), immigration is on track to surpass every goal set forth in Ottawa’s 2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan by the end of this year, with 232,120 new permanent residents coming to Canada in just the first half of this year.
If immigration stays at the present rate for the remainder of 2023, the nation might receive 526,360 new permanent residents by the end of the year, an increase of 20,3% from the 437,610 recorded in 2018.
526,360 new permanent residents would be admitted to Canada this year, surpassing the objective of 465,000 set by the current immigration levels plan and coming close to the far higher immigration target of 500,000 established for 2025.
Given the present record-breaking amount of immigration, it’s possible that Canada’s immigration targets will be raised, as newly appointed Immigration Minister Marc Miller has already proposed to Bloomberg News.
